How to plant stone saver

You will need
  • - pots for seedlings
  • - sifted sand
  • - prepared saxifrage seeds
The saxifrage can grow anywhere, even on the poorest soils, it is not subject to almost any pests, it is durable, resistant to cold, and also very neat and compact. Of course, it gives preference to all the same wet and rich soil, as well as the sunny side of the garden.
The seeds of saxifrage are very small, so they must be germinated in the soil before planting. To do this, take a container with wet earth and pour the grain over the soil, and then cover the container with a lid and put it in the fridge for two or three weeks to sprout the seeds. After the emergence of seedlings, they should be placed in peat pots and looked after them right up to the landing.
It is possible to be engaged in seedling of saxifrage already from the beginning of June or even at the end of May. Plants of this flower are planted in cooked indentations at a distance of about 10 cm from each other.
Planting seeds directly into the ground is not accepted, but if you live in southern areas with early spring and a mild climate, you can try to drive out the sprouts in their natural environment. Sowing is no different from potting: mix the saxifrage seeds with dry sifted sand and sprinkle them over the ridge. Prepare the soil in advance - spill it with water and loosen it. Spread sand cover with soil, but no more than 1 centimeter thick. Watering is not necessary until the emergence of sprouts, just spray.
The most fertile place for flowering of saxifrage are small slides or crevices between the stones. Please note that this plant does not like wet stagnation. If water lingers in a flower, it can be destroyed by a fungus, the roots will rot.
It is not difficult to follow the saxifrage, the main thing is not to forget a few recommendations. In order for a planted plant to be healthy and flourish as best and more beautiful as possible, it should be fertilized, watered regularly, and not forgetting to weed the ground around the flower. In winter, saxifrage should be covered with something, you can dry leaves. To rejuvenate the plant, it should sometimes be transplanted to a new place. When your flower begins to bloom, you can cut its stalks to improve growth and further flowering.
